TOS HOLIDAY BASH featuring Tribe of Judah, Black Apple, Audioblack, Starr Faithfull @ Asylum - Portland December 20, 2002 ...With WTOS DJ Chris "The Rush Man" Rush hosting the night's festivities last minute add-on to the line up, Boston power trio Starr Faithfull, hit the stage to an enthusiastic welcome and proceeded to wow us with their classy upbeat, hard-edged pop/rock. Several fans were up dancing before the first song even ended. Singer/guitarist Jodee Frawlee readily laid waste to any notion that axe-wielding is primarily a guy thing--- rippin' off more than her fair of gutsy guitar solos and crunchy rhythm fills throughout luthier 8 song/30 minute set. Her gritty, Joplin-esque vocal stylings also had a lot to do with the bands' overall edgy sound. From the high-energy pop of "Your Life" the bluesy roadhouse bebop of "3 Sore Thumbs" to the heavy metal rocker "Push"--all professionally executed with extreme precision and finesse-- Starr Faithfull's contagious tunes spanned a wide spectrum of styles which, in turn, got the crowd properly warmed up for what was about to follow..

Frawlee, backed by the tight rhythm section of bassist Geoff Kornfeld and drummer Aj Vallee (formerly of Jab 'n the Groove), is probably the best female guitarists this writer has seen in a live setting. Frawlee's leads were fluid and melodic and tinged with a dose of funk. Her vocals were disciplined yet filled with spontaneous energy and emotion.

...Fortunately, I'm here to see Starr Faithfull, and they give me the ass-kicking I came here for. ...Truly a tough act to follow....

- The Noise Magazine

Sometimes it's hard for a trio to develop that full sound that makes for impacting rock tunes. Starr Faithfull does it so well, that another ingredient might even ruin the recipe

- Worcester Magazine

"These current songs sizzle with hit potential and are executed with masterful technique. One listen and you'll agree that Starr Faithfull has the ability to carve a niche out for themselves in the world of modern music."

- Metronome Magazine

Grade/Rating: A Beautiful and sexy -- and I'm just talking about the woman behind the guitar! Frawlee has obviously learned that groove and feeling are what define the most talented of guitarists.."
